This card is one of the BEST ways to use cardstock scraps!
If you are like me, you are always looking for clever ways to use cardstock scraps because, you know, we just CANNOT throw anything away! Am I right? And as much as I DO try to use them, sometimes I look at an overflowing envelope and go searching for some fun ideas.
So there I was, shopping my stash and I came across this punch. There are some punches you come across and you know that you have to have it. This Bough Punch was one of those and so I bought it and then kept it perfectly wrapped on a shelf for two months. Tell me I am not the only one!
But once I started using it, I couldn't stop. Today is the first of two projects I made this week that I cannot wait to share with you.
Before I do that, let me show you this punch….
It comes in a bundle but I really didn't see myself using the stamp set. The punch though – YES!
This first card is a layout that I have had in my head and had to go with. Let me share it with you.
The Project
Here is the first card I made with it. I created a simple tag with leaves above and below to help the tag pop more.
See the left side of that tag? That's a PERFECT way to use up scraps of cardstock and patterned paper and comes in handy when you have a long tag and a short sentiment. The sentiment comes from the Happy & Heartfelt stamp set, which I just LOVE. You can see another cute project and my thoughts on it here.
The little white flowers really make a big difference with the leaves – which is what makes this punch different from other leaf punches we have had.
I set these adorable little details made with my paper scraps against a dry embossed white panel for loads of texture. Add a little scrap of a Crumb Cake card stock cut from the smallest tag in the tag die set and finish with a hand tied bow and you are good to go!
Want to know what I used to make this? Awesome, because here's the list…
RETIRING PRODUCT ALERT: The Happy & Heartfelt stamp set is retiring! Available while supplies last!

Card making never gets old. It's just good fun no matter if you have been doing it for a day, a year, or decades like I have been. And when you get to learn ways to use up cardstock scraps while making beautiful projects……well, that's a win-win! I can't wait to share the next project with you. See you then! XOXO, Meg
Such a cute little added touch that totally makes the card! I am hopeless at getting rid of any card stock scraps and have a whole huge hanging file system for them sorted by color.
