DIY Card Making – Making Your Own Thank You Cards With Stampin' Up! Stamps
This Monday morning finds me needing Thank You cards – and several of them – so today's post is all about making your own thank you cards, using a great stamp sets from Stampin' Up!
Sometimes it may seem that you don't have the right stamps. And that is how my morning started out. I had a big piece of Whisper White card stock to put my sentiment on. And I have tall sentiments that say Thank You. And I have little sentiments that would get lost on a big piece of card stock. And that my stamping friends is what I call a “Creative Conundrum”.
Have you ever had a “Creative Conundrum” before?
There are two ways of getting past it: 1. Give up, 2. Think out of the box.
Today I opted for thinking outside of the box. I wanted one of the Thanks to really pop, so I went with a color that would stand up to the boldness of the Marina Mist polka dot paper (from Stampin' Up!‘s Polka Dot Parade) – so Real Red it was. Then I wanted the others to melt into the background, so I went back to the Marina Mist ink.
Then I wanted to incorporate some sort of tie in with that red in another space, but subtle. That is how the little scallop came into play under the sentiment. It is just the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch with Real Red card stock.
For the side, I wanted flowers.
My original thought was to have three of the big flowers from the Floral Shop bundle from Stampin' Up. And I had three big flowers, and they overwhelmed the card. I traded in one for a small flower from the Petite Flowers stamp set also from Stampin' Up. All the flowers are stamped in Daffodil Delight ink, and both stamp sets have coordinating punches. (See supply list below.)
Then it was a matter of just adhering it all together. The card base is Whisper White (4-1/4″ x 11″) with a layer of Daffodil Delight card stock (4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″) on top of that. On an angle is the Polka Dot Parade patterned paper (3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″).
To finish out the card I added Rhinestones. The two larger flowers got a Large Rhinestone, the smaller flower got the largest size rhinestone in the assorted pack.

And just like that, this card is done! This is one you can make a lot of in no time at all.
I hope that these ramblings and this card idea help you out when you find yourself needing to make a Thank You card. One of the reasons that I started with Stampin' Up! is one of the same reasons that I am still with Stampin' Up – it all coordinates! Whether you are a new card maker, or have been making cards for years, you know that coordination is one of the biggest obstacles. With Stampin' Up, you get ink pads that coordinate with patterned paper and ribbon and card stock and markers and on and on and on. You get punches that coordinate with stamps, making your DIY Card Making even easier!
