DIY Card Making:  Making a Thank You Card

I am filling up a box with thank you cards this weekend, I will be needing them for a project that I am working on and will share with you soon.  So I jumped right in with card number 1 today.  And I know this won't surprise most of you, but the first thing I started with on this card was the polka dots.  Out came polka dot patterned paper, and much to my sadness and surprise, it was too much.  Polka dot paper was put away, there was a large audible sigh, and then I grabbed the Polka Dot Pieces stamp set and chose a long neglected color.

For some reason, Wisteria Wonder has sat unloved on my shelf all summer.  I literally had to dust off the ink pad.  And I have no idea why I haven't used it all summer, or come to think of it, I have no idea when I last used it.  Bright colors have been my go-to palette here lately.

Then came the question of what colors to put with it.  Here are the list of reject colors for this card:  Crushed Curry, Pear Pizzazz, Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral.  Then all of a sudden, there it was, staring me right in the face.  My color coach.  As I am typing this, the song Eye of the Tiger just started.  Funny, the feeling I get when I hear this song is how I really felt after finding the perfect colors.

Rose Red, Garden Green and Wisteria Wonder!  (If you could hear the same rhythm that I am right now, that sentence REALLY comes to life.)

Moving on, (I will try to refrain from referencing what Pandora has picked for me today).

I got a new stamp set in the mail today, which means that I hafta use it, right?  It is a new one from Stampin' Up! called Another Thank You.  Perfect for my project.

Here is the focal point, when this card was complete, the first time…

DIY Card Making, Making a Thank You Card

As I was photographing it, I just had that feeling like something was missing.  But, and I have no idea why, I didn't see bling or pearls on it, that also ruled out glitter.   I pulled my chair up in front of the card and I just stared at it.  And stared at it.  And stared at it.  Did it need a bow in the middle of the card?  No.  What about a punched circle.  No.

Then, the stamping gods shined upon me and told me Candy Dots!  I had totally forgotten about these!  They were my first must have out of the new catalog, I got them, used the heck out of them, and then I cleaned.  This is why stampers should NEVER clean!
