Are you obsessed with using up paper scraps? This card is for you!
Using up scraps is just so satisfying, right?!?!? There is nothing like it, it just really feels like I have gotten my money's worth when I use up every little bit. This card actually uses the left overs from another card that was using scraps that I will be sharing soon.
There was a lot of trial and error with this card, to be 100% transparent. I wanted to use up the little scraps of patterned paper like we talked about, so I stretched them down the length of the top panel. But something was missing.
Let me share the card with you, and then I will share what seemed to be the endless journey to get to it, lol!
The Project
So I tried the navy edging, and nope – that didn't do it. After many different colors of card stock, and a lot of no-go items, I remembered the cute ric rac die in the Basics Borders dies.
The die cut strip in Calypso Coral was the perfect touch, and I rode that high for several minutes before reality set in that I didn't know what my sentiment was going to be or where it was going to be. The whole idea of this card started by using up small scraps of different patterns.
I pulled out the coordinating stamp set with that paper. The fonts for that stamp set are spot on, I love them all so much.
Falling back on the words of my grandma, “You can never say thank you enough”, I went with that.
It was stamped in Night of Navy, but what shape? After more time than I care to admit, I finally landed on the Heart Punch pack – you get two heart punches in one and it was a home run!
A little strip of ribbon and a tied bow and this card was done 🙂
And if you like this project, I have an entire online class devoted to patterned paper scraps. Click here to check it out.
Here's the color combo to keep in mind to use time and time again.

The parting message today is to don't give up on using up paper scraps! Take them out for a test drive and see what you can come up with. The above listed supplies will work for this layout with any patterned paper. They are great all around supplies to have on hand. I will share the other project that created these scraps super soon, so keep checking back. XOXO, Meg
