Using Stake Your Claim with Handpicked Framelits (Stampin' Up!)

Today we are using Stake Your Claim with Handpicked Framelits (Stampin' Up!) to make a bright and cheerful birthday card.

I am not a gardener, nor do I ever claim to be one, or even have any desire to be one. So when Stampin' Up! released the From the Garden stamp set with the Handpicked Framelits this past Spring- it was never going to be on my wishlist.

Then with the new catalog, they released the Stake Your Claim stamp set to go with the same Handpicked Framelits, and I had to have it! It kinda goes along with the speech bubbles idea, but in a different way.

So today I grabbed it to make a birthday card. And go figure – I put flowers with it!

I wanted this card to have a lot of white space, but not too much. Adding the splatters from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set helped get rid of some of the extra white space. Some splatters went in the upper right hand corner and in the lower left corner.

Let's chat about the sentiment area first. I went with the Cucumber Crush ink for the stamp and stamped it on white.

TIP: Be sure to use your Magnetic Platform with these dies!

Then it just kinda sat there. I first tried a yellow bow around it, but then struggled with what to put at the top. So off came the bow…

I grabbed the flower punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch pack and decided to just punch out card stock, rather than grabbing the stamp that coordinates with this punch. I didn't want more texture, just a simple punched flower.

Then it was time to focus on the upper section.

Many of you know that I LOVE bows. And I love me some fancy bows. But my hands down all time favorite bow is the double loop bow. And the easiest way to tie these is with the 10 Second Bow Maker.

I tied a double loop bow out of the Daffodil Delight Cotton Ribbon. A separate piece was tied around the entire Whisper White layer. And before the double loop bow was stuck on top, I added some little tags.

These tags come from the Handpicked Framelits. I used a 1/8″ hole punch in the top of each and threaded Whisper White Baker's Twine through each and tied the baker's twine in a double knot. That knot is stuck to the flat ribbon piece and then the fabulous double loop bow is stuck on top.

But then what to add with on the tags, right? A couple more flowers to match the bottom is the answer!

TIP: The tags are attached to the card, if you leave them to dangle the pink one will just lie on top of the yellow one. And then you will be sad, and cry. And we do not want that!

The finishing touches for the top layer are the rhinestones. Just a small rhinestone in the middle of each flower for a little pop of bling.

To complete the card, I added a Watermelon Wonder mat and then under that a little strip of Daffodil Delight to help break up the white background.

Just like that, this card is done!

The first time I made this card this morning, it took me a while to figure out exactly what I wanted it to look like. When I made the second version of it this morning, it was done in less than 10 minutes.
