Using Christmas Paper For Card Making (Part 1)

I love using Christmas paper for card making – paper just adds a layer that helps your focal point and messaging pop right off the card.  You have so much texture in paper that it just adds to it in a way that other things can't.

And while I love to use it, I also like using it in a way that helps me feel like I really got my money's worth!  And this project, and part 2, will show you a fun way to do exactly that.

Yes, this project is all about the paper, but it's the dies that I use that really help achieve these results – they aren't mandatory, but they are well worth the money!  And that's the Stitched Rectangles.

In this die set, you get 13 dies that are each edged with stitching for both the inside and outside of your rectangle.  You will see the results of that between these two cards.

Today's project shows the stitching outside of the die.

When we die cut our piece of Christmas paper with the 3rd from the largest die cut, we have a frame and a rectangle.  We will use the frame for this project.  Around the inside of the frame has stitching, and around the inside of the rectangle as well.

That frame will go onto your card base with Dimensionals keeping that frame elevated on our card.

Then it's time to die cut a smaller stitched rectangle for our sentiment and holly leaves.

For the stamping, I went with one beautiful Merry Christmas stamp from the Tag Buffet stamp set.  This stamp set coordinates with the Tag Buffet kit, but I just loved the stamp set and only ordered that.  The holly leaves come from the Joyful Holly stamp set that I absolutely adore.  Did you see this other project and video I made with it here?

Two ink pads, three stamps, and this card is complete!  Adding Dimensionals behind the stamped pieces keeps it on the same level as the frame you created with the patterned paper.

And just like that, we are done!  Well, with part 1 we are done.
