The entire theme of this release is camping… which stirred up a lot of fun memories for me…
When I was in college at Texas Tech, one of our favorite things to do on weekends was to go camping in Palo Duro Canyon. It wasn't too far away and since the Lubbock area gave us few other weekend getaway options, it was a place we would go often. We could go to the rec center and rent equipment super cheap.
Some of my favorite college memories include camping there. I was usually with fellow members of Alpha Phi Omega, a co-ed service fraternity. We would go as a large group of 50 or so people, but then some of us went in smaller groups also.
One of my best friends in high school, Jason, was the friend that convinced me to apply to Texas Tech. I really had no idea that the school even existed before he started putting pamphlets in my locker. Then when we got there, we were both looking at different organizations, and somehow we both wound up at the APO info night.
There are very few memories of college that don't involve Jason.
As you probably can expect from reading this far, Jason passed away a few months ago.
When this release was announced to the design team, a flood of memories came to mind. And as I craft with these items, I've spent even more time with these memories. Memories that had faded over time came front and center.
That's a big part of card making isn't it? Memories come to mind as we are crafting, whether we are making a card for the person in our memory or for someone else.
The power of crafting still surprises me even after all these years!
I'm excited to share this card from this release that features the Happy Trails bundle:

How fun is this? The camper image and the sentiment come from the Happy Trails stamp set and dies, and then I used the sun part of the stencil (Peak View Stencil) behind the sentiment.
The patterned paper and color palette are different and fun! The addition of the new Gateway Ink Color, with the rest of the color selections, pushed me out of my comfort zone – which I enjoy!
I colored in my images with my favorite OLO Markers, they work beautifully with them.

I hope you enjoy this new release as much as I am enjoying it!
Whether you are card making or scrapbooking, this is such a delightful collection to craft with!
Until next time,
XOXO, Meg
