Stunning Greeting Card Made in a Flash

Today we are focusing on two techniques and using very few supplies to achieve this – which always greatly excites me!  We will be playing with a new stamp set from the Occasions catalog called Incredible Like You.  This set has so many wonderful sentiments and was designed for two step stamping – it's stunning in any color palette.

When I first saw it in the catalog, I knew it had to be in my collection right away.  Let me share it with you…

Imagine everything you can make with this set.  When you add it with different sentiments, you can also make gorgeous sympathy cards, wedding cards, sympathy cards for weddings if you aren't happy about it.  (Just kidding on that part, I wanted to see if you were actually reading this!)  All of that to say, it's very versatile!  There is also a card kit that goes with it if that strikes your fancy.

The Project

Let's take a look at what we will be creating today.  We will be using the Two Step Stamping Technique and also Dry Embossing Using Framelits as our second technique.

The Supplies

We don't need a lot of supplies to create our card today.  If you are needing any of them, simply click on a pic below!

The Dimensions

• Whisper White:  4-1/4″ x 11″; 3-3/4″ x 5-1/8″ – finished size (start with 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″); 2-5/8″ x 2-7/8″
• Daffodil Delight: 4″ x 5-1/4″
• Old Olive:  2-3/4″ x 3″
• Gingham Gala Patterned Paper:  2″ x 3-3/8″

The Die Cutting

The only die cutting we will be doing is with our Whisper White 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece using the largest size Stitched Rectangle Framelits. We will be using this piece in the next step, but you will want to do your die cutting first.

The Dry Embossing

We are going to be using Embossing Mats with our framelits.  What these magical mats do is transform your framelits and thinlits into embossed shapes.  You can use most any thin die with them and rather than cutting your card stock into their shapes, they dry emboss the shapes in your card stock.

When you order the Embossing Mats from Stampin' Up!, they come with delightful instructions that I honestly feel work best as filler for your trash can 🙂  I don't care for them as you can't see your die and your card stock going through the machine, so you are doing a lot of finger crossing and hoping for the best.

Here is the way I prefer to use them going through the machine:

These Embossing Mats are only $15 – and to me, if you are one that buys framelits and thinlits – you really can't afford not to have them.  Today we are using the brand-spanking-new-wonderful-amazing-fantabulous Stitched Rectangle dies from Stampin' Up!

Choose the Stitched Rectangle Framelit that is just a bit bigger than your piece of patterned paper.

When you finish, rather than having your traditional die cut stitched die cut, you have all those wonderful stitches dry embossed into your card stock.

Two Step Stamping

This set is designed for two step stamping.  That is where you use two stamps to create one final image.  To learn more about this technique in depth, check out this tutorial and this one too.

For this flower on this card, I used So Saffron for my background stamp and then Daffodil Delight for the top layer stamp.  For your stem, use Pear Pizzazz for your base and Old Olive for the top layer.

Then stamp your sentiment in Old Olive next to your flower.

The Assembly

The only thing left to do is tie our bow and assemble the card.  If you struggle at all with tying bows, be sure to grab your very own 10 Second Bow Maker.  These are proudly made by my hubby to help crafters tie perfect bows every time.  The ribbon we are using today is a Sale-a-Bration item.  I love this ribbon as it coordinates with all the Gingham Gala patterned paper.

• Adhere your die cut rectangle onto your Daffodil Delight rectangle, then secure both of these to your white card base.
• Secure your patterned paper inside your dry embossed stitched area.
• Attach your stamped piece into your Old Olive card stock, then use Dimensionals to attach to your card.
• Finish with a cutie patootie bow added with a glue dot.
