Make your snowflake die cut do double duty!
I love me a snowflake die cut – who wants to fussy cut all that detail? Today I am going to share a couple of PRO TIPS to help you get more from your snowflake die cuts do a little extra work for a lotta extra wow! The way they are used here adds tons of texture and if you have been around me for more than a hot second, you know that when it comes to card making, I am all about texture! It makes ALL the difference with your paper crafts. And this card is 100% on point with lots of texture.
This project has me using some of my favorite supplies, and a supply I often forget about until it's too late and I have already die cut.
That supply that I most often forget about are the Adhesive Sheets. If you use dies that have narrow pieces to them, more of an intricate die cut, these are a life saver for sure! And they are easy to use. They come in a package of 12 sheets that are 6″ x 12″. PRO TIP: to get more out of these, I take them and cut them in half so that I have 24 sheets of 6″ x 6″. Then all you do is peel off the one side of the adhesive, stick it onto a piece of 6-1/4″ x 6-1/4″ card stock. Then you die cut through your card stock and Adhesive Sheet sandwich, then peel off the sticker backing and you made a die cut sticker! Whatever card stock is left over, add it into your scraps and it's ready for you the next time you need to die cut an intricate die cut, you are already ready to go. So for $10, you have sticker sheets for 24 colors if you do it as I do.
These Adhesive Sheets play such an important role in making this card because they make adhering those pretty elements so much easier and so much less time consuming.
Let me share this project with you.
The Project
Here is our awesome project that you can easily mass produce.
The other super simple PRO TIP I am sharing is to let the “background” piece of a two piece die cut – like the four basic shapes in the Gingerbread Dies set – cut not just those background pieces but cute peek-a-boo windows for the detail pieces. On this card, I added texture to the front panel with the Tasteful Textile embossing folder and then cut those windows inside which I “stickered” my fancy snowflake die cuts. Adding the embossed, snowflake die cut panel with Stampin' Dimensionals gave that hint of a shadow but also tricked the eye into having to “look through” the windows to see the blue snowflakes. I love this trick! And that luscious Real Red Ruffled Ribbon – I can't get enough of that ribbon! Sprinkle in a few rhinestones and this card is complete!
