Simple Card Making Tip
Today I want to share a simple card making tip that can add so much detail to your projects with nothing more than an additional piece – or two – or more – of card stock. You know I prefer simple and stunning over the more complicated projects because I like that instant gratification of the more simple card making experience. But I also love really pretty cards! I think this one fits BOTH bills!
Let's take a look:
So this card was literally two stamps, three rhinestones and some baker's twine. And, of course, card stock. The layers here are what give the card its impact. I could have just popped that Whisper White panel onto the Seaside Spray card and it would have been….fine. But adding those layers brings the image forward in the eye and sets it off in a way that creates some visual detail.
There's no “formula” for this simple card making concept. But what I find works well almost every single time is to layer your stamped panel on the same color as your base card. Layer that onto a very dark shade complementary to your design and then layer THAT onto the same color as your stamped panel. And you can reverse this if your top panel is dark. It sets off your stamping so beautifully!

Using embellishments that “connect” – like here with the slightly silvery bling of the rhinestones and the fine filament of silver in the twine – create more visual “movement” making your projects pop. So think natural fibers for wood elements, gold with gold, iridescent sparkle – like with the Snowflake Splendor ribbon in the Holiday Catalog – with iridescent embossing powder…..Oooh – now I want to go stamp again!
