How to Share Joy With Your Cards for Your Birthday
We all celebrate our birthdays in different ways. Some of us would rather not celebrate or even recognize that we have had a birthday. But I want to share a story with you that I think will touch you the way that it touched me.
This is a story about Laura. She is an amazing woman that I am blessed to know. She has overcome more than most of us will thankfully ever face. Like I said, she is amazing.
This year for her birthday, she decided she was going to do something different. She sent out cards to special people in her life with a very specific message on the outside that said not to open until her birthday. And I followed the instructions and did not open it until her birthday.
I asked Laura if I could share her card and share what she did and she graciously agreed. Leave her a comment below if you want to share how just reading this impacted you. Here is the delightful card, but keep on reading to see what it said in the inside:
Inside the card there was a little card with LOVE-HOPE-KINDNESS on one side and then on the back side it said this:
“We all need love, hope, and kindness in our days. Please accept this act of kindness. I hope it blesses you today and always. Today is my Birthday and I am celebrating by giving to others! Hope that you have an amazing day.”
And tucked in was a gift card.
Can you believe that she sent me a gift for HER birthday????
She was so excited to do this as a way to celebrate her birthday. She poured love into making the cards, and love into the sweet note, and love into gift.
I shared the card with my 7 year old daughter and she loved the idea and is talking about doing something like that for her birthday. She has been looking for things as we are out and about and is making a list for particular people.
I was so touched by the card and gift and was also so touched on how it didn't just impact me, but also Emily.
Do you have a Laura in your life? And better yet, who can you be a Laura to? Who can you share love with through your greeting cards, whether as a birthday gift as Laura did, or for any other occasion?
My hope in sharing this is that it shows you another way that you can share joy with your cards for your birthday!
