Just Sayin' From Stampin' Up! for a DIY Birthday Card Idea
Speech bubbles are awesome! I remember using them on polaroids in my old photo albums as a teenager, and they still hold a fun place in my heart. So naturally, I love the Just Sayin' Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!
I will be honest, there is one in that set that I don't care for, in an upcoming post, I will share with you how I fixed that ;).
Also, this set has coordinating framelits, which evokes a feeling of rainbows and unicorns in this stamper's mind!
This card is simple. The only difficult part was choosing the layout. To conquer that, I grabbed one of the sketches from Definitely Sketches and ran with it. I altered it just a bit, which is all about what that program is about – teaching you how to take the sketch and make it work with supplies you already have. Or in this case, making it work with my speech bubbles.
The color palette was the easiest part. I will be the first to admit that I am a patterned paper junkie. I love variety, I love bright colors, and that makes the Moonlight paper stack a win in my book. It gives you two of each pattern. (Now before you start yelling that it gives you four of each pattern, for those of you that know the new catalog inside and out, I say 2 because they are double sided.)
Once I had the basic layout and my stamped pieces, once I put those speech bubbles from the Just Sayin' stamp set on my card, they blended a bit too much rather than popping. A strip of Blackberry Bliss fixed this for me.
I left off any bows or rhinestones so that this card stayed more gender neutral. I find myself needing more and more masculine cards, and I would totally send this to a guy.
And just like that, this card is done. All the measurements for this card are listed in Stamping Family, along with a printout in the 15 minutes or less section. It is one of my favorite sections on the site – because sometimes we just need to make a card, and make it fast! You can find this, and a LOT more card ideas in the site – PLUS over 100 videos! I love that site and so do the members. If you are not a member, click the image below to find out more.
Below are all the supplies you need to create this card. When you order through my online store and use the hostess code J3J7YYVR for the month of June, then you will get a handstamped card from me in the mail as a thank you!
