Even though it's still 100 degrees outside, I am starting on my Halloween cards! I don't make a lot of Halloween cards, but I enjoy making them because it kinda breaks up the monotony of birthday/Christmas/thank you cards I usually make.

I was a bit on the fence about the Scary Cute Bundle when I first saw it. I loved the dies, but I wasn't too sure about the stamp set. I took a chance and ordered it, and I am so happy that I did!

What threw me a bit with it was it's the silhouettes rather than a traditional image. Let me show you…

Cute right? Like the dies are a slam dunk, but the stamp set I just wasn't so sure I would use. But I decided to dive right into the stamps rather than the dies, as I thought I might struggle with them a bit.

I played into the silhouettes and decided to make a background for them. Using the banner from the above dies, I used a clear piece of plastic – tip to follow – and die cut that banner and the big label. This made two stencils for me.

PRO TIP: Whenever you buy photopolymer stamps from Stampin' Up! you have the thin plastic that covers the stamps, and then you have the bottom one they sit on. When you remove all your stamps from that thicker plastic to put your stamps in the case, keep that thicker plastic. That's what I use to make my own stencils! Now this particular stamp set is rubber, so it doesn't have that sheet. So you will need to swipe on from another set of yours.

Using that stencil, I used my blending brushes with Granny Apple Green and Gorgeous Grape inks.

Then I used my Stamp-a-ra-tus to stamp my silhouettes. I did that because I knew I would need to go over my image more than once to get that crisp full image stamped.

Stamping the sentiment onto a the same banner before, just die cut from Basic White card stock was fast and easy.

Some dry embossing – and I wasn't initially sure how the Hive 3D folder would look with it, but it turned out great! And then some black little embellishments and this card is done!
