Paper Scrap Magic – Leftovers to Lovely!
This card is so much fun to make PLUS it's a great way to use up any size paper scrap – (YAY!) We are using a die from the ____ die set. It's the cute little border die below.
Isn't that an amazing die set? All those shapes PLUS the marquee PLUS the border? Totally versatile!
The Project
Here is what we will be making today. As I mentioned above, we are using up all sizes of paper scrap shapes and colors. You want card stock that is 3/4″ x 4″ long at a minimum for the borders. Of course you can always use card stock that is longer and trim it up later o! I used colors from the Brights Collection: Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Melon Mambo and Pacific Point. That's one of the best features of the Stampin' Up! color collections – no matter WHICH colors you choose from each collection they will ROCK together!
Each piece needs to be die cut with that die. When you do that, you will have what I call “die poop” – similar to what I call “punch poop”. “Poop” is what you have left that is not the original part of the die cut you want. If you have a few minutes and a little patience, then you can use your poop to create a fun inside for your card – or use the same idea on another card front. We will get to that in a bit.
Once your die cutting is complete it's time to attach it using liquid glue to a piece of Whisper White card stock (4″ x 5-1/4″). Trim off any excess colored card stock you have.
Stamp your sentiment on a piece of Whisper White. I used this new stamp set that I think is awesome called ______. I love that set as you can use it for so many occasions! I stamped my sentiment in Tuxedo Black ink. This piece of Whisper White is 1″ x 5″, and then after it's on your rainbow panel, trim off the excess.
Now if I had been thinking, which I don't often claim to be – LOL – I would have used the balloon dies in the die set. But I knew I wanted a balloon and out of habit I grabbed my Balloon Punch. That punch has two sizes of balloon on it and I went with the smaller one in Poppy Parade card stock.
The bow is tied from White Baker's Twine using my 10 Second Bow Maker and it was attached to the balloon with liquid glue. Another strip of White Baker's Twine was added behind the balloon to make the tail. The balloon is on the card using a Stampin' Dimensional and then the end of the tail is secured to the back side of the card panel.
The final step in creating this card is to add it your Whisper White card base (4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″).
Optional, Yet Adorable, Inside
Remember that poop we talked about before? Grab a strip of Whisper White that is 1/2″ wide. Add all your diamond poop – that just funny to type right there!! I followed the same color on the front of the card. I personally LOVE how it turned out!! Add that strip of white to a Poppy Parade piece that is 5/8″ x 4″ and then place both layers onto another Whisper White panel (4″ x 5-1/4″) and then secure to the inside of your card.
A quick note on these and any other tiny shapes – they make AWESOME shaker card stuffing!
And there we have it! This bright and fun celebratory card is complete! Not only do we have a great card, but a great use of our die poop as well. If you want to make this card, below is a list of the supplies you will need.
