One of my favorite short cuts – and a tip I am sharing with and showing you today – is how putting multiple stamps on one block can give you a custom background. It's also a fast and easy way to stamp an image or a few images that go together, with or without a greeting, all at the same time without having to invest in an expensive stamp positioner.

First let me show you the card I made using multiple stamps on one block:

Wouldn't you swear that background is one of our big stamps? I used the same block you would use for those oversized beauties – Block F – and just laid the leaves on there in a pattern I liked. Then I stamped. And reinked and stamped again! And then again! And before I knew it I had a bunch of identical tone on tone panels all ready for these cards.

I love the simplicity of white against a neutral and the Crumb Cake shown here is “brown” enough for this to be a guy card but soft enough to send to a gal pal. Adding little touches like an additional circle layer under the greeting and the scalloped edge just peeking out adds enough detail that the card looks special. You can see the details a little better here:

I really love tone on tone backgrounds because they add that depth without bulk. You can see that this card is pretty flat but here's a look head on where you can see what I mean about how rich it looks from the monochromatic coloring.

Here are the things you will want to make this card – remember you can add each of them, fill your cart, make your payment and just sit back and obsessively wait for your goodies!

The other great thing about placing multiple stamps on one block is you can line up your greeting with your image and just keep restamping it, you can add a stem and leaves to a bloom, dress up a critter or even make up your own greetings using different word stamps. And all without spending up to $50 for one of those hinged stamp positioners. See? I just saved you fifty bucks!

This is one of those times when I WILL say “Try this at home!”. Load up those multiple stamps on one block, ink it all up and try it out for yourself!
