Most of you know that I am a HUGE polka dot fan, therefore, I LOVE the Polka Dot Wisteria Wonder DSP in the Sweet Shop DSP pack, but with Stampin' Up!'s Mixed Bunch stamp set? Um-hm! Earlier this month, I celebrated (groaned) another birthday and my sweet friend gave me a card with just that. I never would have paired the two together and I have not been able to get it out of my mind at all. I cannot put my hands on the card, so I am doing it from memory and changing up just a bit, not because I didn't love it, I just made it my own.
I started to make this card this morning (prior to pancakes) and I used the outliney (I know that is not a word, but I needed it to be right now) flower from the Mixed Bunch set. I came home, belly full of pancakes and bacon (yummmm….) and realized that what was wrong with the card was the flower. Back to the stamp room to try again.
This time I loved it with bold flower. I am not sure which flower Diana used on my birthday card, but I love the look of it now. So what is the real conclusion?
Pancakes + Bacon = Wonderful Card!!!! (Anyone else with me on this or am I alone in my thought process?)
Onto the card:
Supplies used to create this card:
Stampin' Up! Stamps: Mixed Bunch, It's Your Day
Stampin' Up! Ink: Wisteria Wonder, Pear Pizzazz
Stampin' Up! Cardstock: Pear Pizzazz, Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight
Stampin' Up! DSP: Sweet Shop
Stampin' Up! Accessories: Scallop Oval Punch, Blossom Punch, In Color Polka Dot Brads, 1/2" Circle Punch, Large Oval Punch, Whisper White Organza Ribbon, 1" Circle Punch
Here is my flower up close and personal:
I tucked that little 1/2" Circle punched out of Daffodil Delight behind the polka dot brad so that it pops even more.
The leaves were made out of a circle punch and I used the oval punches, scallop and regular, for my sentiment.
This little gem of a stamp set is often an overlooked one. It is the It's Your Day stamp set, and it is in with the Simply Sent Kits, and yes, it is a set that is retiring. But it is too stinkin' cute – if it had cheeks, I would pinch them! Also on the subject of retiring, the Pear Pizzazz items in the current catalog are retiring, you can get them right now, but if you wait until the 25th of April, they are only available while supplies last.
Every year, without fail, and I am sure that this year will be no different, I get a phone call that goes like this, "Meg, HELP! I forgot that the In Colors were retiring and I NEEEEEEEDDDDDD the re-inker and another marker, and I really want more of the cardstock, and the ribbon and they are ALLLLLL GGGGone {insert sniffle}, what can you do to help me?" And I think, "Self, have I not been blogging about it, newslettering (another not real word that I need to be real), and talking about this? I could have sworn that I had been." And my heart breaks for this stamper, I want her to be able to get them! So please do not fall victim to the words Sold Out. Please get all the retiring In Color goodies BEFORE the 25th. Not on the 25th, BEFORE the 25th.
So what colors are going? Poppy Parade, Pear Pizzazz, Blushing Bride, Concord Crush and Peach Parfait. For the past two Christmas's, I have made cards using Pear Pizzazz with Poppy Parade, they are stunning together for Christmas. If you want to use them this year, get them before the what? Yes, the 25th!
OK, I am off to finish getting ready for my stamp club members tonight, tonight it is all about smooching! Well, Summer Smooches that is :).
You can order any of the retiring In Color items here in my online store, you will thank yourself later for getting them on time – I will thank you with a card in the mail that uses the Poppy Parade cardstock, ink and ribbon! While you are there, if you like the card that I made today, be sure to grab the Sweet Shop DSP and Mixed Bunch set/blossom punch – that mini ends this month!
