I don't what it is about Christmas stockings that feel so Christmas-y and today I am sharing one of my favorite versions of a Merry Christmas card that features a cozy stocking. Let's take a peek!
I think one of the things that makes this card so cute is that it's loaded with texture so even by using just three colors, you get a lot of “oomph” with just a few pieces! And since none of the pieces are “fussy” you can make a huge batch of these cards and not have to spend hours in your craft room. Here's how I would approach using the card as a batch card.
First, cut and emboss your Crumb Cake cards – simply cut your sheets of Crumb Cake card stock in half from short side to short side, score in the center, fold and run the front through your Big Shot with the Brick Wall Embossing Folder. Then, the same day or the next time you have a chance to “play”, cut your stockings out using the Trim Your Stocking Thinlits. INSIDER TIP: if you can fit your snowflake on the same piece of Whisper White you can do two pieces at once! Grab whatever Whisper White scraps you have and punch those border strips. Now, if you have time, emboss them with the Polka Dot Basics Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Grab those stockings and your Real Red marker and “hand stitch” the edges in front of your nightly TV break! Next, cut your Real Red Stocking toppers and heat emboss your greeting in Whisper White Embossing powder – LOOK at that POP! Then go ahead and cut out those And in your next crafting sesh, assemble your cards. Your finishing touch will be to pop one of those doesn't-show-up-in-the-photos-but-WOW-in-real-life Faceted Gems in the center of your snowflake and you are DONE! It sounds like a lot but when you break it down to one component at a time, you can get an enormous amount done!
Wait a minute, you can't really see all the texture on that stocking! How about this?
Ah! There you go! Isn't that really just so sweet? It's cozy but fresh. It's trendy with those three colors but it uses that classic Christmas stocking. It's got TONS of dimension but not a lot of layering. And it's got that one touch of bling that makes it super festive. I LOVE a Merry Christmas card that checks all the boxes!
Here's what else you will want to have in your stash to make this card:
If you LOVE this color combo like I do, here's another card that uses Whisper White, Crumb Cake and Real Red. I like have a couple of options using the same colors because I can really stretch by budget when I use limited products!
