Megan Daves Meets A Sea Turtle Snorkeling!

Here's another little factoid about me that you might get a kick out of:

I love to snorkel.  It is one of my favorite things to do while on vacation.  I usually forget to slather up my back and the back of my legs, until I have been snorkeling for over an hour, and then vow to never forget to apply it before getting it the water to snorkel again – but I just get too excited! Once I have my fins in my hand, mask at the ready, and the tubey thing I am sure has a technical name, I just forget about everything else.

I don't like the first three minutes of snorkeling though, as it is always a long time in between snorkel adventures and I have to remind myself that the Darth Vader sound that is created when breathing in and out of the tubey thing is a good thing.  I have to focus on making that sound for a few minutes and then I am good for hours.  Literally hours. Like I look like a golden raisin hours.

My favorite places to snorkel so far is in Cozumel and Hawaii (both on trips earned through my being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator).  I love Cozumel because all the vibrant colors of the Caribbean are also found under the water.  The fish, the coral, the everything. It's almost like you can hear the Caribbean music under water while snorkeling with all the bright colors.  I didn't like seeing eels last time; that was a bit unnerving and not my favorite.

I LOVED snorkeling in Hawaii because we had giant sea turtles come up and swim with us.  Like one hit me in the face swim with us.  (Yes it startled me enough that I am pretty sure I tinkled a bit in the waters of Hawaii.)  There we were just doing our snorkel thing and BAM – sea turtle!  Not sure if that is how they let everyone know that they are going to swim with you or if I was just the chosen one. Either way it was a seriously cool experience (once I figured out they don't eat humans).

When I was a kid and thought about all the things I would do as a “grownup” I can tell you that snorkeling was never on my list.  But now that I have tried it and discovered I love it, you can bet that will never pass up a chance to spend some time visiting our underwater friends.

How about you?  Anything you love to do that you never even thought about before?  Are you a snorkeler, too?  Where was the most fun place you've snorkeled, or, if you haven't, where would you like to?
