DIY Card Making: Making a Miss You Card with Just Sayin' From Stampin Up
For today's DIY Card, we are making a Miss You Card featuring the Just Sayin' stamp set from Stampin' Up! Speech bubbles are a recurring trend, they pop in and out of the creative scene – but they are still very hot right now.
I wanted an unusual color combination and I turned to my second favorite neutral paper (my fave is still Crumb Cake!), but I used Smoky Slate for this card. And then I pulled in a green from the Watercolor Wonder patterned paper, and a bright yellow (Daffodil Delight) in with it.
Let's chat about this card from the top down. The sentiment from Just Sayin' was stamped in Smoky Slate ink onto Whisper White and die cut using the Word Bubbles framelits. A couple of punched hearts using the Owl Punch were added on top. And then all of that went onto a Daffodil Delight 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle that was punched from Daffodil Delight card stock. A few rhinestones completed that layer.
I used the Simply Scored to add the score lines to the big piece of Whisper White to add some texture without covering the entire piece in texture. And then it's just a small strip of that Watercolor Wonder paper with that fun green chevron pattern. More rhinestones were added for fun!
Then we have that Smoky Slate layer with the holes in it. There is a die that will do that for you, but you can also grab a ruler, a hole punch and a pencil and get the same look.
And all these layers of paper crafting goodness were added to a Daffodil Delight card base and we are onto the inside….
I pretty much just duplicated the same thing on the inside. The punched Smoky Slate layer as well as the dry embossed lines from the Simply Scored on the Whisper White.
It took me a bit to get used to the color combination to decide if I really liked it or not – and I really do. It's just that gray, green and yellow wouldn't be the first color combination that I would usually use.
I hope that not only does this card inspire you to make a card, but to maybe take some time this holiday weekend to make a card AND send it to a friend that really needs a smile! DIY Card Making is so much fun, I really don't understand why the entire world isn't doing it. And when you can use fun stamps such as the Just Sayin' from Stampin Up, why isn't everyone stamping? They just don't get it, right? Have a great Easter weekend!
