DIY Card Making:  Quick & Easy Congratulations Cards

After a long week of playing catch up, I needed some fun paper crafting projects to focus on.  And there are a few people that I really need to send a congratulations card to – so why not have a blast and crank them out.  Over the next few days, I will be sharing these, there are some fun variations on them.  I used products I have never used before and one that I thought I would hate, but now I love.

Let's get to the first one…

This is actually the one where I used those word thinlits that everyone else seems to love, but I fought for soooo long.  I heard they were tedious, which is NOT the word I want associated with my paper crafting, and that they tear easy, hard to get out of the die, etc.  So for my first go at it, I simply die cut it in Whisper White card stock.

I was shocked that it went so well.

I had it laying on just the green paper (from the Sweet Sorbet patterned paper from Stampin' Up!) but they got a little lost.  I layered them on other colors, but when I was digging for a different pattern, I stumbled upon this little strip of Silver Glimmer paper.  It was the EXACT size that you see it as, so it was obviously meant to be!

The word fit perfectly and popped it up off the green pattern just like it needed.  Under that 1″ strip of green paper, I added a ruffle with the Crisp Cantaloupe Stretch Ruffled ribbon.

And then the entire element went onto my FAVORITE pattern in this paper pack.  I have been using it very sparingly – until this card, and then I did an entire card front with it.

Then that entire layer went onto my Crisp Cantaloupe card base.  This card is simple, simple, simple.

As I type this, I realize that I never used any stamps or ink on it either.

Here is what you need to re-create this card:

Crisp Cantaloupe card base:  4-1/4″ x 11″ (score at 5-1/2″)

Sweet Sorbet Patterned Paper:  4″ x 5-1/4″; 1″ x 4″ (2) – one for the front and one for the inside

Whisper White:  4″ x 5-1/4″; 1″ x 4″

Silver Glimmer Paper:  1/2″ x 3-3/4″

Thinlit die & some ribbon and you are in business!

These went together so quickly that I actually made four of them in under 20 minutes – SLAM DUNK in my book!

Be sure to check back later this weekend, I will be sharing more congrats cards!

Thank you so much for joining me for this quick and easy DIY Card Making Congratulations card!
