Making a Birthday Card (Paper Crafts Idea)
Today's paper crafts idea is all about making a birthday card! And making it with very few supplies.
It is a card you can make in minutes, it's also one you can make a ton of and create a birthday stash. You can easily change a few colors and make it more gender based or to personalize it with someone's favorite colors.
Today's card started with the stamping. I started by stamping the balloon from the new Celebrate Today set from Stampin' Up! in Bermuda Bay ink. Then the polka dots from the same stamp set were stamped in Tuxedo Black. The bow was also stamped in Tuxedo Black.
Then I went on a scavenger hunt. I could not find the coordinating framelits for the Celebrate Today set ANYWHERE. Matt came and helped me look. Pixie, our cat, came and helped. (Ok, she really didn't, but she came in for moral support!) We looked everywhere. And 45 minutes later, where were they? Oh yeah, hidden in plain sight. UGH!
So after 45 minutes of hunting, I die cut the balloon and the ribbon in under a minute. I LOVE coordinating punches and dies that go with stamp sets, especially when I can find them ;).
Then it was time for the dry embossing. I chose the Decorative Dots embossing folder rather than a regular polka dot folder because of the pattern stamped on the balloons. They aren't perfect circles, so I didn't want to use perfect circles on my embossed piece either.
Stamping the sentiment came next. Mixing fonts is so hot and trendy right now, so I went with that, it was even easier to do that because these words are in the same Celebrate Today stamp set. I also mixed up the colors.
The assembly took no time at all. I also added in some white baker's twine behind the balloon as I was layering and BAM – this card was done!
It took:
- 1 Stamp Set
- 1 Framelit Set
- 1 Embossing Folder
- 2 Ink Pads
- 3 Card Stock colors
- 1 Piece of Baker's Twine
That is it!
