Making A Card For A True Friend
Today we are making a card for a true friend. The friend that you love beyond measure, that you don't want to go a day without her friendship, you can agree to disagree on your differences, and you just need to know that you love your friendship.
A handmade card is an amazing way to show that love.
This idea is one that is both pretty and not over the top, you can make it in under 15 minutes, and the supplies used for it are simply beautiful and versatile.
Before we dive into the making, let's chat about the supplies.
The Supplies
The supplies are simple. One embossing folder, one stamp set, one package of patterned paper, and card stock. To order these supplies simply click on an image below.
The Whys of the Supplies
I chose this paper for the stunning colors, it's the Flowers for Every Season paper. Look at the pretty patterns in this pack. I went with a busy pattern and also a more muted pattern – both from the same paper pack. That helps give the card balance and doesn't overwhelm your eyes.
The sentiment is from a favorite stamp set of mine called Butterfly Gala. I love the mix of script and serif fonts in this stamp set. And the words in this sentiment are just perfect “the good things in life are better with you”. This is such a versatile sentiment, you can use it for friend cards, anniversaries, mother's day, thinking of you cards – so many things.
And the embossing folder is the Old World folder. This looks like crumpled paper, so it's just a great folder for adding texture to your card without over powering the card. It's a delightful folder that I use all the time.
The only other thing left to talk about is the Linen Thread – another card making staple in my opinion. Then you need a bow maker, everyone just does. It makes tying bows so simple, we love our 10 Second Bow Maker. You might not know this, but my sweet husband is the one that makes these. We have been making and selling them for years and not slowing down.
The Making
- Whisper White: 4″ x 5-1/4″; 1-5/8″ x 2″
- Pear Pizzazz: 5-1/2′ x 8-1/2″
- Bumblebee: 2-3/4″ x 4-1/4″
- Flowers for Every Season Paper: 3-1/2″ x 3-3/4″; 2-1/2″ x 4″
All you need to do to make this card is cut your card stock, dry emboss your Whisper White card stock, make a banner on your remaining white card stock, wrap ribbon, tie a bow, and layer it all together.
This is a great layout that is perfect for card making and one I go back to time and time again.

That is beautiful! Such pretty pale flowers just perfect for spring.
Is it possible the 8.5x 5.5 should be smaller? I’m working on creating this now, and I need to make that piece smaller in order for the design to work.
It is the correct size, you score it at 4-1/4″ to make your card base.
Such a sweet gesture. We should all be so lucky to have a friend to send this to. Thanks for sharing. #HomeMattersParty
