How to Store and Organize Your Punches
Another question I am often asked is, “How do I store my punches?” When I first started stamping and when I first started blogging about storage, I shared the idea of the Iris bins with you. That is where I first stored my punches. Then it evolved to the over the door shoe holder (just slide them right in the pouches). And then I found the ideal way for me.
Do you have any idea how dangerous it is to live down the street from IKEA? From now on, we will reference this as the-store-that-shall-not-be-named, as it is evil and sucks away all your money. In case you don't live near one, save yourself, and when you move next, don't move within a 50 mile radius of the-store-that-shall-not-be-named.
That is where I found these fabulous towel racks for my punches. They have two kinds, ones that have circles on either side of the bar and ones that don't. The ones that do, are far cheaper – but you loose valuable punch real estate. You want the ones that are a few dollars more, but that you can line up flush to each other when you mount these to your wall.
So you can see the bar across the top and see how they mount flush together.
Side note: Can you guess the paint color?
Then, as I ran out of space to put more bars, I grabbed a spice rack from the-store-that-shall-not-be-named. And I hung that spice rack right off of that towel rack and started doing the happy dance when I confirmed that my punches will fit there too!
I left one of my older style punches, as I still use them, in the picture – while it make not look as pretty for the sake of the picture, I thought it wise to share with you that the old style punches hang on the towel rack just fine.
Things to keep in mind before you start utilizing this idea.
- Molly Bolts are your friend.
- So are levels.
- If you live too far away from the-store-that-shall-not-be-named, visit your favorite home improvement store and take your punches with you. You will look silly testing out your punches with the towel racks, so please send me a picture, but you will thank me later.
- Measure your space before you shop.
- Measure the space above your punches before you mount them, make sure you have room to take them off and put them back.
