Who wouldn't love to receive this adorable handmade gumball machine card?
I LOVE old fashion gumball machines and I love making cards so you KNOW I had to create a handmade gumball machine card! We love them so much here, we have several around our home and my favorite one is red. It's on this amazing original stand and it lives up in our movie room. I don't know why I love the old machines so much, but I do. If I had my say, my house would be filled with them – all shapes, all sizes, wouldn't matter.
We had one that broke a few years ago. I decided to dive right into it, take the entire thing apart and repair it. I had pieces of the machine everywhere. Up until then, I really only thought about putting a quarter in, turning the knob, and getting a gumball out. Seeing the inner workings of one of them had me in awe of how they were designed and invented.
So when this bundle came out from Stampin' Up!, I had to have it. And the first card I made with it is the one I am sharing today, and of course, the machine is red.
Let me show you this delightful traditional gumball machine card…
While there is the option to have it be a shaker card (and who doesn't love a good shaker card?!?!?), I just went with a simple flat lay card. I die cut the “glass part” with just white card stock and stamped the gumballs on it.
What makes this pop for me was using the silver foil for the metal front plate. The die that cuts it out also embosses right onto the foil with one run though the machine.
A tip I will share with you is that you REALLY want to have the adhesive sheets to do your die cutting on your detail top pieces of the die. I made one without it and I think I had more glue on me than the card stock did. (That one went into the trash – it was a hot mess!)
Add all this stamped and die cut goodness onto a dry embossed background and you are set!
This card comes together pretty quickly and it's just a lot of fun to use. Here's a list of supplies you will need to make this card…
