Halloween Card with No Halloween Stamps

There are times when we want to make a card but we don't want the specific holiday stamp set.  These are usually for when we don't make a lot of cards for an occasion but want to make a couple.

Today I am going to share one of my FAVORITE layouts for this type of card.  So we are making a Halloween card with no Halloween stamps.

The secret to do this is having a particular set of dies, it's called Playful Alphabet – but it also has numbers and symbols in it too.  Let me share this with you:

Simple, basic and just the right size.  We have had large die sets before, but with this one, you can die cut the word “birthday” and have it fit across your card rather than just die cutting “b-day”.  But back to numbers, that's what we were talking about.

The thing that every holiday, every anniversary, every birthday, every everything have in common is dates.  By just emphasizing the date and using the right colors, and you have a custom made card without having to have event specific stamps.

We have a new set that came out this year that I recommend every stamper have on his or her shelf, it's called Watercolor Shapes and it's awesome!  It creates a subtle background to any element with the watercolor wash look to it rather than a bold circle would look with this.

Let me show you the card and then I will share everything else I used to create this card.

See what I mean?  Not a hint of Halloween other than that 31 and the right color palette!  This is a Playful Alphabet die set you will use over and over and over again – make sure when you order your dies you also grab the Watercolor Shapes stamp set.  With these two items, you can rule the world!!!  Or totally rock your crafting – your choice!

Behind the numbers, I added some die cut labels to help the 31 really jump off the page.
