Today I want to share with you one of my favorites sets of greeting stamps in the new Stampin’ Up! catalog. And guess what? It’s not even a “greeting set”! First, let me share a card with you that I made using the Beautiful Bouquet set:
I am super excited to be using this set because when I first looked at it I thought “Meh – I don’t need any more flowers” and almost passed it over. But then I remembered how many times I have found a GEM of a stamp or two in a set and made myself really look it over. And boy am I GLAD I did! Take a look:
Check out those greeting stamps! There are a full dozen in this set and cover loads of different occasions. The set is just $27.00 for all 37 stamps so even if you hate those flowers, your greeting stamps come in at just over $2.00 each. Beat that at a local stamp store! And this combination of pretty script and plain sans serif fonts isn’t going anywhere. I love that Stampin’ Up! is offering more greeting stamps in this kind of combination but keeping things stylistically neutral so you can go to town with mixing and matching.
Here’s another look at the card I made using one of the greeting stamps from this set:
I used one of my “little black dress” stamp sets, Timeless Textures, to add that shabby chic look of the floral elements on the background along with some splattery dots for even more texture. In real life this card looks like it has texture you could feel with your fingers but it’s all just ink. Using a tone on tone over a darker ink adds that depth and it’s all just SO easy!
Here’s another peek:
Check out how CUTE that gingham ribbon is on this card! At first I was worried that it might read too playful but when I saw how it brought together the colors I knew it was a good pick. Gingham always brings a touch of whimsy and fun to a project, don’t you think?
Here are the other products I used to make this card:
And one last look at this fun card:
Moral of this story? Before you reject a stamp set, take a good look at ALL the stamps in it – not just the ones featured in the samples or that are tied to the name. I would have passed right over this and missed a SLEW of greeting stamps that I know I will be using over and over!
