Fun Handmade Christmas Card Using Letter Dies
There is still plenty of time to make Christmas cards this year, especially if you have this one particular die set. I love this die set. Each letter is right at an inch high and it's a fun trendy font.
I was goofing off the other day with these letters and I grabbed a pencil and paper and starting writing down as many holiday words I could think of. I had about 15 words written down when I added the word cheer to the list – at that point I knew I then had three words that would bring the plan in my head for this card to fruition.
Since I had the three words written down, I knew exactly what letters I needed to die cut. Armed with Real Red scraps, I laid the scraps out on my cutting mat, laid the letter dies on top and ran them through. I only needed to run it through twice to get all my letters cut.
Let me show you this die set:
Isn't that a cute alphabet? It's not too girly not too serif – it's just right!
Next I took some Dimensional strips and cut them into small sections to put behind the letters. You can also use Dimensional sheets if you are making quite a few of these and add them to your card stock before you die cut it. But since I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out, I just used little pieces. It took more time than using Dimensional sheets but I wasn't in a hurry at all.
Then all you need are three things – a panel of patterned paper, a piece of card stock, and a card base – that's it!
When choosing your patterned paper, you will want to choose something that's not too busy a pattern. Simple stripes are exactly the type of pattern I would recommend. Since these letters aren't huge, they will get lost in the pattern on too busy a paper.
Assemble your card and you are done!
So we made an fun Christmas card with just a couple of supplies and a little bit of time.
You can use this idea and these dies for cards all throughout the year! Having these dies are a great addition to any craft stash.
