How to Make a Hand Made Card to Cheer Up a Friend {Nuts About You – Stampin' Up!}

Today's card is all about making a hand made card to cheer up a friend using the Nuts About You Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!  Normally I make my cards for specific people, but not today.  I like having cards on hand as well and I have been dying to use this new stamp set from Stampin' Up! ever since it arrived last week.  It's ridiculously fun to use!

The Nuts About You stamp set is a hostess set – but if you are at all like me, you will agree that it was worth the big order to get.  (You can earn free hostess stamp set by either gathering up orders from your fellow stampers and putting it all in on one order – or you can place an order of $150 and get it that way.)  When you order this stamp set from me – I will send you a free tutorial with the exact step by step instructions on how to make this as a special thank you – AND THIS CARD TOO!

And if you have at all been on the fence about getting the Big Shot – grab it this month with these deals, add some dies to it and snatch up this stamp set!  All the supplies used to create this are listed at the bottom of this post.

We begin with our stamping for this card – and you will also want to do some masking for the tree part.  Let me show you what I mean.  We want the possum tail to really look like it is looped around the branch, right?  So we want to make a mask.

My favorite product for making a mask is either a Post it Note or Post it Tape.  And you want to stamp the base area you are working with both on your card stock and then on your Post it Note or Tape.  Then you cut around your image.

Here you can see that the tree is already stamped on my card stock, and then the mask is laid over the section that I want “masked”:

Now when I go in to stamp my possum, only the right hand side of his tail will be over the front part of the branch.  And the left side of the possum tail gets stamped on our mask.  When we do that, it looks like this.

Then it is time to stamp our words.  The “Hang in There” is stamped over and over again onto a strip of Whisper White card stock that is just a bit bigger than 1/2″ tall.  Then the Banner Punch is used to punch out both ends of it.

To get the backing for the words, I punched two pieces of Early Espresso card stock using the same banner punch.  The Early Espresso pieces go behind the Wild Wasabi (the green) layer.  It just looks like it goes all the way across the back!

Dry emboss your Whisper White background to add some more fun texture to this card.  Then add it to your Early Espresso card base.

Now we do the inside – which was almost as much fun as that precious possum!

I stamped the squirrel first and then added grass on either side of our cute squirrel.

The finishing touch for this card is the bow.  It is tied using the Early Espresso Cotton Ribbon and the 10 Second Bow Maker.

And when that is added with a mini glue dot, we have our finished card:
