An Easy DIY Background Using One Stamp
The other day I shared a project where I talked about using a stamp or image to create an easy DIY background and based on the feedback, you all wanted to see more. Your wish was my creative command!
This card – which I really love because of its simplicity and sentiment – was crazy easy and fast to make because I was able to use a single stamp set with its accompanying dies to make the focal image and the background.
First let's take a look at this card:
You could use this card for so many different types of occasions – birthday, new baby, new home, wedding, even a sympathy card for people who are deeply spiritual. And changing out the color of that stunningly detailed rose can totally change the feel – bright colors for cheery occasions, tonal colors for wedding cards, soft pastels for babies, etc.
This easy DIY background panel was a total snap because literally all I did was stamp the large greeting several times on a Whisper White panel using Smoky Slate ink.
Once that was done, I stamped the rose using only one ink pad – So Saffron – but stamped off so I could get different gradations of the color to make that shading really POP. This is a three step stamp so I inked the most solid stamp once, stamped off TWO TIMES onto scrap paper (regular printer paper works best) and then onto the card stock; inked the “petal” stamp with the same color, stamped off ONCE and stamped over the solid rose; and last inked the detail stamp with the So Saffron and stamped directly over the rose to give it that last OOMPH.
A quick run through the machine for the rose, the leaves and the label shape and this card was DONE! I only used three colors of cardstock – one a scrap of Smoky Slate for the label shape, two ink colors and the gorgeous To A Wild Rose bundle. This would be an excellent card for batching, too; just changing up the colors to suit the occasion!
