DIY Card Making: Making a Get Well Card
There is nothing like learning about someone else's health problems to put yours in perspective, right? This week, I have not been feeling well at all. I have spent most of the week in bed. Then today I was notified that a very sweet friend of mine had emergency surgery on Monday, she is recovering well, but it put my “I just don't feel good blues” into perspective.
I got up, grabbed a Dr. Pepper and went into my stamp room. Low and behold, it was a clean stamp room. That TOTALLY threw me. I forgot that I had cleaned it on Sunday. That was happy accident #1.
Happy accident #2 was that the only card stock I had out was Strawberry Slush and Whisper White. I instantly knew my color palette.
Happy accident #3: I stand when stamp. I can't sit and stamp, it just doesn't work for me. (I can almost see some of you nodding your head as you read that, my fellow stand-when-stamping-friends.) But I knew it just wasn't going to happen. So I could only use things I could reach from my chair. (now if you can imagine, my stamp room has kitchen cabinets in it, and I was using a regular height chair – so I couldn't reach much)
This is why I stand and stamp – even though most everything is within reach – as soon as I sit down, I will need something on the other side of the room.
While sitting today, I was forced to only use things within my reach.
I was really afraid of how this card might look when I was done. It was meant to be a pick me up, but would it be so bad that it would make my friend feel worse? But I really like how it turned out. It has the clean and simple look that I was going for, and I don't think it looks tragic.
Very few supplies were used in making this Get Well Card:
Stamps: Lacy & Lovely, A Dozen Thoughts, Mosaic Madness
Ink: Strawberry Slush, Baked Brown Sugar
Card Stock: Strawberry Slush, Whisper White
Accessories: Rhinestone Jewels
That is it! Can you believe it? OK, I am off to put a new video tutorial in Stamping Family and then this stamper is headed back to bed!
I hope that you have enjoyed this DIY Card making idea on making a get well soon card!
I love accidents like yours!!! What a cute idea!
I love the way you stamped on the right only…I’ve never thought to do that.
Hi Chrystal!!!
It was awkward at first to leave the left side blank. I mean, really awkward. But I stamped it and walked away. When I came back, I loved is as is!
Meg
What a sweet card Megan. Well, I must have had sympathy pains for you because I spent most of this weekend in bed. Just got up now and got online. Love the card. Wasn’t feeling well either, didn’t even go to church, not that is something for us in this household. Anywhoo, hope you are better and thanks for taking the time to show us an awesome card. You rock, off to get a Dr. Pepper myself. Will check in on Stamping Family tomorrow. Love the new site, my new stamping home away from stamping home. Everyone is so sweet.
