DIY Card Making – Halloween Card Making Idea
Happy Monday!!! It's Monday – and that means Polka Dots and Caffeine! If you have been following my blog for a while, you can probably guess what you will see on my today.
I am NOT a morning person. Which brings up something interesting – people are referred to as morning people or night owls, right? What about those of us that are afternoon's? That is my zone, my groove, my happy time of the day. Does that make me the ‘middle child' of these categories?
For me to not only get through a morning, but really be productive and enjoy the morning, caffeine is a must. It is a non-negotiable. Must. Have. Coffee. And it has to be in fun mug. No boring coffee mugs for me! And then if it is a Monday morning – polka dots are required. Odd, huh? But I love polka dots – not a little, but a LOT! They are pep, they are hip, they are just a pattern that make me smile.
If you are new, this will explain my Monday mornings to you. If you are returning, then you are probably saying, ‘Let's get onto the card!!!' So let's do that…
For this Halloween card making idea, I started with the Rich Razzleberry polka dot pattern from Stampin' Up!‘s Polka Dot Parade patterned paper. Then I added the Pumpkin Pie scallop – I was tempted to go with Tangerine Tango, but since I was stamping pumpkins, it seemed wrong – like I was cheating on Pumpkin Pie with Tangerine Tango somehow. (Dumb, right?) And that scallop comes from the Tasteful Trim die.
I am really digging the white on white for card making – a hot trend right now – and so that is how I came up with my colors for my card base. Before I put my top layer on, I wrapped a piece of Rich Razzleberry Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon around it and then put it on my card base.
The pumpkins are from Stampin' Up!'s Halloween Happiness, it is a single stamp in the Holiday catalog. And I inked them up with my markers – Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and Early Espresso. Those were then die cut using the Oval Framelits. A larger Old Olive oval was cut using the same Oval Framelits set, just one size up.
The finishing touches are the rhinestones in the upper right hand corner of the pumpkins and a bow tied in Rich Razzleberry ribbon using the 10 Second Bow Maker.
Tada!!!
