If you are looking for cool things to do with washi tape, read this post! I was playing around the other day and was amazed when I created this project because not only is it super cute, it was SUPER easy! Take a look:
I had just received the Sweet & Sassy Hearts Framelits and I have NO idea why I waited this long to get them – they are SO fun! There are a whopping 15 dies in this set and include your traditional “straight edged” hearts – eight of those and all nesting! – and seven of the “scoop sided” hearts – also nesting. It's INSANE how much you can do with these ! I have only had them a week and I just can't put them down.
And I got a chance to use my FREE Sale-A-Bration set, Avant Garden. Have you all noticed how Stampin' Up! has been adding sentiments to sets that don't just work beautifully with the art in that set but are also terrific stand alone greetings? They are a trend leader in this area and I am so glad to get so much more use out of my stamps. And with this one being free – well it's just sprinkles on the icing on the cake. And in case you missed it yesterday, be sure to check out this video where I explain how to be sure you are getting ALL the Sale-A-Bration goodies you have earned!
The washi tape is from the Floral Boutique Suite and while it was designed to coordinate with the hand painted floral look, I loved the graphic pop of blue and white. At just $5.00 for three coordinating rolls, this washi tape collection gives you a ton of bang for your buck. I just laid some strips down on a Whisper White card base, cut a heart from a panel of the same crisp white and laid the panel over the base letting the washi tape show through. Adding a layer over a card base with both in the same color adds a lot of wow for almost no work – just look at how stunning that white on white looks! Then I added a length of Night of Navy Baker's Twine with a cute little bow, stamp the greeting and – voila – one of just several cool things you can do with washi tape. Here's a peek at the peek-a-boo feature up close:
You can see how having that peek through of washi, then the layer and then the baker's twine over the top adds lots of visual and textural interest with almost no effort. I LOVE an easy and gorgeous project!
Here are the items I used to make this project – which would make a GREAT Valentine for a guy – just saying…….
Now, check back tomorrow to see what I do with the heart cut-out – you won't believe your eyes when you see how I used one item from the Occasions Catalog to turn it into something spectacular! And in the coming days I will have even more cool things to do with washi tape so you can start using what I know you've been hoarding (don't worry – everyone does it.)
