Christmas in July: 6 Clean and Simple Cards from the Evergreen Wishes Collection

It’s Christmas in July, and Brass & Bliss Craft Co. is celebrating with a brand-new holiday release!

The Evergreen Wishes Collection includes more than 50 new products filled with playful Christmas characters, classic holiday designs, beautiful sentiments, cover dies, and even several dies created especially for 5×7 cards.

I usually make A2 cards, but I decided to give the larger size a whirl for one of today’s projects. The other five stayed in my familiar A2 territory, and all six are firmly within my favorite clean-and-simple style: not too many supplies, not too many steps, and definitely not a million little elements.

A quick equipment note before we look at the cards: I used my regular Sizzix Big Shot for all the die cutting, including the larger 5×7 dies. You do not need the Big Shot Plus to use them.

Warm Winter Wishes Mitten Card

The Large Mittens Die is definitely the star of this card. I cut the mittens from blue cardstock and added white details, including those sweet snowflakes.

Behind them, I used the Candy Cane Stripe Cover Die with white cardstock. Using white on white gives the background texture and interest without competing with the oversized mittens.

The greeting is from the All Occasion Holidays stamp set. A few sparkly centers on the snowflakes finish it without pushing it out of clean-and-simple territory.

Merry Christmas with Frosty Friends

This card is such a fun way to use smaller stamped images!

The Triple Window Front Cover Die creates three perfectly arranged openings across the top of the card. I tucked one character from the Frosty Friends stamp set into each window and colored them with my OLO markers.

Of course I used my OLO markers. You knew that part was coming.

The large Stacked Merry Christmas Die fills the lower portion of the card and balances the three smaller images. It gives us a big, cheerful greeting without needing to add more layers or embellishments.

Santa and Christmas Tags

The new 5×7 Nested Tag Dies give us plenty of room for larger stamped images, embellishments, or even a full sentiment.

For this card, I used two tags as the main design elements. One holds Santa from the Jolly Old Mischief stamp set, while the second tag gives the sentiment room to shine.

Santa was colored with my OLO markers, and the ribbon and small embellishments add just enough detail. The finished card is playful and festive, but the layout itself is wonderfully simple.

There Is Snow Buddy Like You

The 5×7 Nested Tag Dies appear again on this card, but the finished look is completely different.

This card is more of a general winter card, not necessarily a holiday card.

I used one tag horizontally to hold the snowman and sentiment from the Frosted Fun Bunch stamp set. The snowman was colored with—you guessed it—my OLO markers.

The bright striped panel was created with the Skinny Strips Die. This is such a handy way to add narrow strips of color without having to carefully cut each one to the same width. I cut out a bunch of white strips and colored them in with the same OLO Marker colors, so it matches perfectly!

It’s bright, happy, and still very clean and simple.

A Classic Christmas Tree Card

This card has a more traditional Christmas look, beginning with the green striped paper from the Boughs of Joy Paper collection.

The Tree Cover Die creates the repeating tree background, while the large greeting from the Simple Joys stamp set becomes the focal point.

I layered the sentiment using the Nested Circle Small Stitch Die and Nested Circle Scallop Die, then finished it with a simple bow.

The cover die and patterned paper do most of the work here. That is one of my favorite ways to make a card look detailed without actually adding a long list of steps.

An Elegant White Snowflake Card

This final card shows the softer, more elegant side of the Evergreen Wishes Collection.

I used the 5×7 Nested Classic Stitch Rectangle Dies to create the layered frame design. The stitched edges add subtle detail, while the mostly white color palette keeps everything peaceful and understated.

The delicate snowflakes were created with the Small Snowflake with Shadow Die. The sentiment from Simple Joys was cut with the Nested Circle Small Stitch Die and added near the bottom of the card.

This design has plenty of dimension and texture, but it still feels light, clean, and uncluttered.

Clean and Simple—Even at 5×7

A larger card does not have to mean a more complicated card.

The 5×7 products in the Evergreen Wishes Collection give you additional room to play, but you can still stick with a few strong design elements and let the dies do the heavy lifting. Your regular Big Shot can handle the larger dies, too, so you don’t need an oversized die-cutting machine to try this card size.

Whether your Christmas-card style is playful and colorful, traditional and cozy, or soft and elegant, this release has plenty of options to explore.
