DIY Card Making:  Masculine Card

What?  A Monday morning and it is a card without Polka Dots?  I know, I know… but today's card needed to be a masculine card, and polka dots don't really fit in with this card – trust me, I tried!!!

But there are bright colors involved!

I went with the car theme this morning.  This guy is a car guy, a big time car guy.  He is into vintage cars, so this stamp set was a winner.  I tried to match one of his cars by using Pacific Point ink.

And look at that precious license plate!  Picking out a “custom plate” for him was awesome!

Cute, right?

Then after I had my car all stamped and die cut, it was time to move onto the layers.

I opted for circles, but added a Starburst circle to make it not so plain.  So the Starburst circle is in black and then a 3″ circle is in red behind that.

All that car goodness was layered onto a piece of white card stock that I dry embossed using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  (for some reason, I could not get the texture to show up as well in the photos).  On the top and bottom there is a small strip of Basic Black as well as a strip of Pacific Point that I ran through the Tasteful Trim die to get the matching zig zag from the Starburst die.

And then it was all layered on a card base of Whisper White (4-1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5-1/2″).

What you can't see is the inside of the card, it simply says “Happy Birthday” in Real Red ink – easy peasy, lemon squeezy!

It greatly bothers me that you can't see the texture on the White, it really makes the red and black circles pop, but then again, it is a Monday morning – and I am grateful that the card turned out as cute as it did!

This is another card that can be made in under 15 minutes.  When I say another, it is in reference to this weeks challenge on Stamping Family – to make cards that can be done in under 15 minutes, from idea to finished project.  It has been fun to see what members have come up with.

If you like challenges, then you should become a family member – with new weekly challenges coming to site, you can join in on as many as you would like.
