{DIY Card Making} Making a Birthday Card

Welcome to this DIY Card Making post that is all about making a birthday card.  Birthday cards are probably the type of cards I make most throughout the year.

But I LOVE the word VERSATILITY!

So today I wanted to make a birthday card, but I also wanted to be able to FLIP this card into a card I could use for another occasion.

This card started with one of my favorite color combinations:  Red, Yellow and Green.  Specifically, I used Stampin' Up!'s Real Red, Wild Wasabi and Daffodil Delight.

I opted for a timeless pattern, rather than trendy.  And if you know me at all, you probably know that I am a polka dot freak!  I cannot get enough polka dots.  They just make me happy, they are peppy and fun!

These polka dots came from the Paper Stacks from Stampin' Up.  I used the Brights collection for the Daffodil Delight and the Subtles Collection for the Wild Wasabi.

Then it was time to stamp.

Out came the Polka Dot Pieces set and the And Many More set.

From the Polka Dot Pieces, I used the largest flower.

From the And Many More, I used the “happy birthday”.  But as I pulled out the And Many More set, I tried to think of all the stamps in that set that I could use, keeping the rest of the card exactly as it is.

Here are the other stamps in that set that I think could work:  Cheers, Happiness Always, Here For You, Happy Healing, I Heart You, To You From Me, Best Mother Ever, Celebrate!, You Made My Day, Just Because, My Friend and Congratulations.

WOW!!!  Can you believe that list?

That makes this a very versatile stamp set combination!

A couple of extra touches were added to the card, including paper piercing, a scallop circle punch, a 2″ circle punch, some leaves from the Bird Builder punch and some Real Red ribbon.

This card takes minutes to put together.  The most time intensive part is the paper piercing.

If you struggle at all with tying bows, be sure to check out the 10 Second Bow Maker.  You can very quickly learn how to make bows of all sizes using the 10 Second Bow Maker – oh yeah, and learn how to tie them in 10 Seconds!
