Making a Birthday Card with Big Day from Stampin Up!
I personally love the Big Day stamp set from Stampin' Up – especially when it comes to making birthday cards. It is mainly a birthday set, but it doesn't have to just be that.
The Big Day stamp set is the first one from the Sale-a-Bration catalog that I ordered, it is my favorite. And you only have about 36 hours left to get it.
Stampin' Up!‘s Sale-a-Bration ends tomorrow evening – March 31, 2015. There is no grace period, no items going on clearance afterwards, they will simply retire and be gone.
If there items that you want, don't wait and try to order tomorrow. Tomorrow could be crazy land for the website as most will wait to place their orders. My advice, click here and take care of it today!
Let's check out this Big Day Stamp Set:
I can see it being used for:
- Graduation
- Retirement
- Promotions
- Oh yeah – and Birthday!
Lots of possibilities!
Today's card uses one of my favorite elements, POLKA DOTS!
I incorporated those by using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.
I was a little unsure of the color combination with this stamp set only because I wasn't sure which direction I should go with ink. I could stamp everything in the different colors or go with the black. I started with black and liked it. We will talk about the color combination more in just a bit…
You could also color in the open letters. The only reason I didn't is because I don't have a way to balance that in the lower right hand corner of the card. And because I need this to go in the mail today:).
So I went simple and easy. Simple measurements, simple supplies. One stamp set, one ink pad. Three colors + a neutral. One embossing folder. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!
Let's check it out, and then we will talk about the color combination…
Here is the front of the card:
Here is the inside. Since I didn't color it in, I still wanted to add a pop of color to the inside of the card. I cut a narrow strip of the Hello Honey card stock and tada- instant color added.
There are several thing you can do to dress this up, but like I said earlier, this was all about simple.
Let's chat about that color combination…
So where did the color combination come from? It is this weeks new Color Inspiration from Stamping Family! Each week there is a new inspiration for members, and this is it for this week.
