Adding Texture and Shape to Take a Card to WOW!

I wanted to show you how adding texture and shape to elements on a card can take it all the way to WOW! without a lot of extra effort.  This is super handy when you want to add some vavoom to a card without making it fussy or complicated.  Let's take a look so I can explain:

Adding Texture and Shape

So, a pretty simple layout, right?  But by adding the  half chevron motif in tone on tone in Crumb Cake and then adding the Pear Pizzazz panel embossed with the geometrics provided by the Honeycomb Embossing Folder, I was able to add a lot of depth without piling up the layers.  By echoing that with the lace butterfly in Wisteria Wonder and then repeating that lace look using the same color and then overstamping that with the greeting I was able to create even MORE texture.  And notice that the “lace” on the tag is also a honeycomb shape which pulls everything together.  I then added an ornate shape to the top of the tag and the rhinestones on the butterfly for just a touch of elegance and finery.  The gloss of the Crumb Cake Satin Stitched Ribbon mimics the sheen on the rhinestones, further pulling this card together in a way that is unfussy but pretty with a lot of texture without a ton of heft.

Here's what I used to create this card:
