A Quick and Easy Card Using Trendy Gray and Yellow

I am sure you have seen this fun trendy color combination everywhere – gray and yellow.  From bright to metallic, from antiqued to high gloss, gray and yellow together are hot in fashion, home decor and all over the web.  Today's card makes great use of the two colors together and comes together in a snap thanks to a couple of stamps with unexpected punch.  Let's take a look:

Trendy Gray and Yellow on a quick and easy card

You can see the immediate impact that Smoky Slate and Daffodil Delight have together and using crisp Whisper White allows all the saturation of those two colors to come through.  For the gray “swath” I used the Watercolor Wash background stamp.  This stamp is like the little black dress of my collection because it goes with everything and depending on how you dress it up or down, it takes on a fresh look every time I use it.  I added some splotches with the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set because, as I said before, curves love angles and even though the Watercolor Wash image isn't sharp lines, our eyes do see it side to side, creating that linear flow that is offset beautifully with those yellow circles.  A quick zip of a Butterfly Thinlit through my Big Shot, some Basic Rhinestones and a greeting banner offset by the now retired Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch (sniff, sniff, I miss those little scallops!) and this card is done.

Here's what else I used on this card:
