Altering the Takeout Treat Boxes from Stampin Up
I put off playing with the Takeout Treat Boxes from Stampin Up for several weeks, but once I started playing with them, I couldn't stop! This cute little bundle just debuted in the 2018 Holiday catalog. It's in the Halloween section, and I am using it today for Halloween, but it is so very versatile you can use it for any holiday or occasion.

About the Thinlits
These boxes are rectangular, not square. (Which doesn't matter to me one way or another, just as we move on with this project that will be important to know.)
And it also has a die that is just a bit smaller than the wider section of the boxes for layering.
The Project
Let's take a look at what you will discover how to make today.
The Creating
You can cut out two frames from 1/2 sheet of card stock. For this project, I cut out a total of four, two of each from Gorgeous Grape and Whisper White.
The two pieces of Whisper White stay just as is.
Then using the layering die from the thinlit set, die cut out four pieces using your patterned paper. Two of them will stay as is, two will need to be altered.
The Gorgeous Grape is what we are going to focus on first.
Altering the Gorgeous Grape
The die that coordinates with the wider section is a great size, but I wanted a layer in between, and I found an easy way to do just that.
When you die cut out your Gorgeous Grape pieces, you will notice there are score lines on 3 sides:
You want to cut on those score lines. You will still need to trim down the fourth side, just eyeball a section similar to what you cut out. Do this for all four of the panel sections.
Altering the Patterned Paper
Your remaining two pieces that you are altering need to be cut down on just one side.
Once you have cut down all your card stock and patterned paper, then adhere all your layers together.
Assemble Your Takeout Treat Box
These go together crazy fast. Simply add adhesive to your side flap after you fold on all score lines. Add adhesive to your bottom flap.
Decorating Your Takeout Treat Box
Wrap a strip of Black Glitter ribbon around your Takeout Treat Box. Tie a bow and attach to your treat box top.
I used the banner and tag dies from the Takeout Thinilts. The banner was die cut with Black Foil paper. Just fold on the score lines and attach to the top using Dimensionals.
Use your Pumpkin Pie marker on just the word “TREATS” on your stamp from the Takeout Treats stamp set. Then you want to breath on it to re-moisten the ink before you stamp it onto a piece of Whisper White card stock. Then die cut it out with the small tag.
Die cut a star in Crushed Curry card stock using the star die in the Takeout Thinlits.
Attach both the tag and the star to complete your project.
Ta-da! These are so much fun to make and having that extra layer of card stock make such a big difference!

The Cost
These little boxes are extremely affordable to make as you need small bits of patterned paper and just 1/2 a sheet of Whisper White and Gorgeous Grape card stock. Then accessories with small pieces of card stock and ribbon.
There are so many ways you can decorate these fun Takeout Treat boxes. Right now I am focusing on Halloween, but you can use them for any holiday or occasion. Here is another project using these fun dies for Halloween.
