Masculine Handmade Birthday Cards

It's time for masculine handmade birthday cards!  I love making a stash of these to have on hand because I don't seem to keep up with my male friend's birthdays as I should, so I always need some from by grab and go stash!  Be sure to read all the way down as I will give you the magic measurements to make 8 of these cards.

This one is such an easy and fun card to make AND it also allows you to easily use up scraps of patterned paper.  So a stash card and a scrap card – double high 5!

The Making

This stamp set is a part of a kit – kinda.  Which means that the stamp set is purchased separately, but there is a card kit that coordinates with it.  While I love the look of the You Are Amazing Project Kit, I REALLY love the stamp set.  When I first saw the You Are Amazing stamp set, my first thought was MASCULINE CARDS!!  The fonts aren't girly or whismy like – they just say exactly what I want them to say.  I have used the snot out of this stamp set – and I love the word bubble.

We are actually using two stamps from this set.  One is a “salt & pepper” stamp (we talk about this all the time in Stamping Family) and we will use the stars to add texture behind our sentiment from the same set.

Yes – we are mixing dies.  I love to mix my dies meaning using more than one set of dies together.  Usually when I am doing this, I am using ones I have had for a long time along with ones that are new and fresh.  It makes me feel like I am really getting the most bang for my buck – which is an amazing feeling.

So we are using a label from the Stitched So Sweetly die set to hold our sentiment.  Then we want to do die cut Smoky Slate card stock using an oval from the Stitched Shapes dies.  These will layer fabulously.

On your label, stamp your sentiment in Night of Navy ink.

Fun Fact:  Night of Navy was the first and only ink pad I bought when I first started stamping in the 90s.  I call it my gateway ink pad, lol!!

Next lay your oval in place onto a Whisper White panel to get an idea of where you want it to be on your card.  Remove it and stamp your stars around where your oval will sit in Night of Navy ink.

Dig into your stash of patterned paper and see which will work best for your card.  I am using a scrap from the plaid paper that we had at Christmas time.  It was all grays, so it coordinates perfectly.  Layer this strip behind your sentiment and use Dimensionals to add it to your die cut oval.

Attach this all with Stampin' Seal+ (the adhesive of champions – I love this one – not the regular Seal, but the Seal+!) to your stamped white panel and then secure it onto your Night of Navy card base.

That's it!

BUT… let's take it one step further, as we did talk about making a stash of these masculine handmade birthday cards.

Let's Make 8!!

To make 8, you will need:

  • 4 pieces of Night of Navy 8-1/2″ x 11″, cut to 4-1/4″ x 11″; scored at 5-1/2″
  • 2 pieces of Basic White cut down to 4″ x 5-1/4″ panels
  • 1 piece of Basic White cut down to 2-3/4″ x 4-1/4″ pieces
  • 1 piece of Smoky Slate cut down to 2-3/4″ x 4-1/4″ pieces
  • 8 strips of paper 3-1/2″ x 1″

It's just such an easy card to make, you will love these and will be so excited and proud to send them out AND for being ahead of the curve on some of your card making.
