Stampin Up Broadway Birthday

I was playing around the other day with the new Stampin Up Broadway Birthday bundle, and figured out how easy it is to make two cards at one time.  AND it doesn't take that much to make the second card because you will be using left over pieces from your first card.

Curious?

Let me show you exactly how to do this.

The Products

Let's take a look at the bundle itself, particularly the die cut.

When you die cut out that image, you have both the frame as well as the space inside the frame.  So if you will die cut that in both black and white (or whatever two colors you want to use), then you have the main pieces you need to make both cards.

The Measurements

Here are the dimensions for the rest of your supplies:

  • Whisper White:  5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″; 4″ x 5-1/4″; 2-1/4″ x 4-1/4″; narrow scraps
  • Basic Black:  5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″; 4″ x 5-1/4″; 2-1/4″ x 4-1/4″; narrow scraps
  • Patterned Paper:  1″ x 5-1/4″ (2)
  • Gold Foil Paper:  1/4″ x 5-1/4″ (2)

How to Make the Two Cards

Gather your supplies and die cut your frames in both black and white card stock, as shown above.

Heat emboss your “Hooray” sentiment from the Stampin Up Broadway Birthday stamp set using your gold embossing powder.  That gold is so much more shimmery in real life.  When you do it, you will see that!

The Negative Space in the Frames

Take a look at the photo below.  See how you can see the polka dot patterned paper through the holes on the right, but not the left?

You can go with  whichever look you like, but I didn't like seeing the dots. Luckily, this is an easy fix!  Take some narrow strips and attach them to the back side of your two sides of your die cut.  You don't need to do this for the top or bottom.  I used black scraps behind my white frame, and white scraps behind my black frame.

(Doesn't it feel A-MAY-ZING to use up scraps?  Like you can conquer anything?!?!?)

Dry Emboss

I am so in love with the Subtle Embossing Folder, I have gotten more than my money's worth out of having this folder as much as I have used it.  All it does is take any card stock and make it textured.  No more having to buy/store both smooth and textured card stock.

More importantly than all of that is how much my stampers are using theirs!  Stacy told me the other day that she has never used any other embossing folder as much as she is using her Subtle Embossing Folder.  LOVE hearing that!  That is such music to my ears.  I have a real passion for my stampers that they actually use what they order from me!

You will want to dry emboss both your Whisper White and Basic Black 4″ x 5-1/4″ pieces.

Assemble

Now it's time to put it all together.  Secure your foil strips to your 4″ x 5-1/4″ pieces.  Next, attach your patterned paper strips.  Choose the paper you use by making sure you have the coordinating ribbon.  I went with Lovely Lipstick.

Place all of your new layers onto your card base.  Attach your frame and your “Hooray”.

Finishing Touches

All I did to complete this card was to tie a bow in Lovely Lipstick ribbon.  I didn't want to add too much as I didn't want to detract anything from the shiny heat embossed sentiment.  That is the focal point, so we don't want to take anything away from that.

Wrap Up

Here is the skinny on this card and why I went from playing around with it to finishing it out today.  This morning I got a text from one of the demonstrators in my team.  She is about to reach a HUGE goal in her business.  I knew she was close, but didn't know what she had in the works that is playing out this week.  It was so touching that she included me in her path to victory and she also asked me to help her celebrate this win.

I care more about my team members than they really know.  None of my team members are the same, none of their businesses are identical.  And that is what I love about being a demonstrator as part of my own business.  With Stampin' Up! you can do so many different things within your business and the common link is the product.  I take a completely different approach to my team and meeting their needs.  It's all about 1 on 1 help, rather than training for the masses.

This team member of mine had a goal, she included me in the beginning planning of what she wanted, a map was drawn out to get her from point A to point B – and she ran with it!  I couldn't be more excited for her.  She is doing it and reaching her goals!

THAT should be celebrated with a handmade card!

Think about someone you know that reached a goal here recently that you would be able to make their day by making and popping a card in the mail to him or her.

Can you think of two people that have reached goals?

Goes back to, why make one card when you can make two? 🙂  Your craft is so very important to so many, even if you don't see that.  And the Stampin Up Broadway Birthday bundle can help you celebrate with your friends and family.
