Stampin' Up! impressed me early on with coordinating stamps and punches – like the Make a Mitten stamp set with the Mitten Builder Punch – it makes it so easy to make a Christmas Card with those.
Emily also likes these! She has gone crazy making mittens this year. When we switched to the new punch style a few years back, I taught her how to use them without pinching her little hands and ever since, she is so careful with them and just really loves punching out anything, but give her some patterned paper and a mitten punch and you will have mittens for a lifetime!
This card started because of our day together yesterday. Matt was off at a fantasy football draft and Emily and I had a fun girls day out. We went out to lunch and then braved the stores for back to school clothes shopping. She had a blast playing dress up all day, we even picked out outrageous outfits that we knew we would not get, just to have fun! Then we kept finding winter clothes – in Texas – in August… she wore her coat twice last year, so why are they putting out winter clothes down here already? But she saw this cute shirt with mittens on it and a tear formed in the corner of my eye when she said, "It is a Cherry Cobbler mitten!"
So today's card is based off that Cherry Cobbler mitten – I find inspiration in the strangest ways.
And I grabbed the new Festival of Prints DSP stack, which has 48 double-sided designs in the 4 1/4" x 6 1/2" size and grabbed the two light blue ones. Add some Cherry Cobbler, the Make a Mitten set, a few other goodies and you have an instant Christmas Card!
