Let's make a pirate birthday wishes card! With just a few supplies, you'll be on your way to fun filled creative time.

So matey, before we begin, let me ask you a question…

Arrr you ready to do some coloring?

Yep, I had to go there. There just might be a few more of those on the way as well – you have been warned!

This delightful card started with a stamp set and coordinated die set from Brass and Bliss. I made this selection when I was looking for some summer themed stamps to do some coloring with. And when I found these, they were just perfect and too cute for words.

Let me share this fintastic treasure with you…

How fun is this? That little crab holding his telescope, be still my heart! That's just the fin-ishing touch!

Other Background Ideas for Pirate Birthday Wishes Cards

For the background, I love the polaroid frame. I wanted to spend more time coloring and less time creating a custom background. But I wanted to give you some ideas on backgrounds you could make if you want to.

  1. Create an ocean background blending inks.
  2. Have him standing on his fin on a boat using a boat die.
  3. Stencil a background with balloons.

The Coloring

My alcohol marker coloring journey took place back in 2015 or 2016. I truly loved how much depth you could get with Copic markers. Then I felt forced into using Stampin' Blends when they came to be but I was limited to a light and a dark, blah and boring.

Fast forward to 2024 when everything changed and I was introduced to a delightful company that had made a splash on the alcohol marker stage. This company truly cracked the code on making an affordable high quality marker with a refill strategy like no other. That company is OLO Marker.

For this coloring, I stuck with my cool grays from OLO, two yellows, two reds, and a light blue. I could have colored the shark shirt – or is that a tube top, I can't decide, in any colors, but I went with two of my favorite colors since I knew I wanted that crab to be red.

When you have the right images paired with the right markers, coloring is a million times better!

I have a video sharing with you how I made this, but to ensure that my yellow marker matched my card background, I just used my yellow marker on that layer. Simple, right? And then I know it's spot on!

When you are ready to make a purchase, I ask that you use my links provided below.  Doing this does two things.  First, it helps keep this blog up and running.  Second, it helps me strengthen my relationships with these companies so that I can continue to work with them and expand my opportunities.  Each company I have links with has not only given me links, but they encourage you to use them 💕

For the markers, I listed them individually, but some of the colors I used are also in two sets, so I listed those also. And the set called Meg's Summer Colors – I am that Meg, I put these colors together into this collection! Talk about fun!!!

That's it, one stamp set, one coordinating die set, a frame die and some incredible markers!

Alternate Shirt Color Combos

As I was picking colors for the shirt, these are some other combinations I was considering:

  1. turquoise and yellow
  2. light blue and orange
  3. purple and green

I think they all would have looked good and it all would still look great with the red crab.
