As I was relaxing last night in bed, Kitty Kat decided he/she/it needed to be in my bed, under my covers, snuggled up right next to me. I moved KK down to my feet, on top of the covers, and quickly KK moved right back under the covers right next to me. Definitely a snuggler.
Matt took KK to the vet today and received a clean bill of health. SHE is about 7-8 weeks old. Too young for shots right now, back in three weeks. Vet said that looks like KK was being fed, but not being taken care of. So either just weened from momma or an outside cat that found cat food on someone's porch.
I love all the comments on here regarding KK. We are still trying to decide what to do with her, of course, our daughter is in love. And she asked me if Daddy was going to bring her home another kitty next week on his way home from work.
In asking our four year old what a good name would be, we have received some very, well, interesting responses. I made a joke about calling it Sucker, cuz all she had to do was look at us and we were suckered. Emily thought it was a cute name because she loves suckers. We pray the name does not stick. The other name I was joking about was calling her He/She/It. (That was before we knew she is a girl.) Matt bust out laughing as soon as I said it and it took me a while to figure out why. Say it outloud several times really fast, here is a hint… Don't say it in church.
Our last cat was named Shadow. He died when Emily was about 9 months old. She chased that cat everywhere once she started crawling. Emily has seen pictures of him, and now she wants to name this cat Shadow. It is hard to explain to her why that does not work.
We had one other cat, after Shadow and before this one. She was a super sweet white cat that was quite a snuggler, that is until we took her to a vet and found out she was quite sick. After meds, she turned into Satan cat, and my dear friend loved her inspite of the head spinning 360 degrees and green gunk spewing from her mouth and said that she really felt that that cat was supposed to be hers. I said great and gave her everything that went with it. That cat has since destoyed her home but I am happy to report that she loves it to no end and cannot imagine life without her.
We are not in the habit of getting animals and getting rid of them, that last one was a child biter and just wrong for our family.
Over the past few months, we have discussed whether we are ready for a pet, and we are still trying to decide. Emily has decided and we feel pretty confident that the cat has decided, now it is just up to mom and dad.
Oh, definitely get a second one!! We got our cats in sets of kittens, unrelated but approximately the same age. They play when they’re little and provide a companion when they’re older. We never have to worry about them being lonely when we’re out of town because they have each other!
