Learn how to make some super easy backgrounds with alcohol markers!

The other day in Stamping Family, I shared a wonderfully fast and fun way to create easy backgrounds using alcohol markers. Honestly, when you try this out you are going to want to do it all the time when you can't think of what else to do. It's SO easy, so fast and you can use this alone as the color story on a project. Did I mention it's easy?

Ok so here's the “how to”. Choose alcohol markers – I use Stampin' Blends because the colors are perfectly coordinating to all the other Stampin' Up! colors and they are ALWAYS juicy – in two or three colors that set the tone for your card. Here, I chose a classic red and green for a Christmas themed card.

Scribble swatches of color over your white card stock. Spritz with rubbing alcohol – remember, the finer the mist, the smaller the water spots. Blot with a paper towel.

Oh, were you waiting for more directions? Oh I'm sorry! That's it! You're done!

Does it really get much easier than that? I mean other than not having anything at all……

I added a couple of white die cut elements from the Spruced Up Outlines – part of the bundle I got that I LOVE – and a super simple die cut tag and this card was ready to go! PRO TIP: Especially when using outline or die cuts with fine lines, always use the Adhesive Sheets to make them into stickers. You will thank me after you try this the first time. Total time saver!

My Stamping Family peeps went NUTS over this and I was so tickled. I mean, I love those people! We aren't even kidding when we say we have the best name for a stamping community – we really DO feel like family! You can learn more here if you'd like to join us – the only requirements are you are a nice person and you love to stamp!

Sometimes the simplest things make us the happiest. Personally, I plan to use this method for creating easy backgrounds with alcohol markers any time I am stumped! XOXO, Meg
