I'm going to share a type of card making magic trick with you today. And I can't wait for you to learn this.
Let's talk about the challenge first….
- I have one piece of 6″ x 6″ patterned paper
- I want to make two cards with a full top layer of patterned paper on each
Do you see the challenge?
Think it's impossible? It's not! BUT, you have to know how to create this look and that's where the magic comes in!
Let The Magic Begin…
You are going to take that 6″ x 6″ piece of patterned paper and grab your paper trimmer.
Cut it into 1″ strips. So you will have 6 pieces of 1″ x 6″ strips when you are done.
Now grab some scraps of card stock, and you want to cut 1/4″ strips of that card stock.
Starting on a piece of card stock that is 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″, you will start layering on your patterned paper and card stock alternating as you add them to your card. I did mine on an angle, but you can also do it vertically.
If you do it vertically, you can use a piece of card stock that is 4″ x 5-1/4″.
If you do it horizontally, you will have spliced pieces, so make sure that your sentiment or image covers those seams.
The magic is all in the card stock spacers helping you STRETCH your patterned paper even more!
Ready to See It In Action?
I love the Comic Book paper from Crafty Stamp Co so much! I love how it's shiny, bright, bold, all in one – it really looks like comic book paper!
When I first got it, I didn't know how much I would use it. Fast forward two months, and I have made a LOT of cards with it. I think I've used it so much because it's different. It's not the same old patterns recycled. I worked with patterns like that for years, and I am not going back!
Match it up with the Super Sentiments stamp set, and you have a total winner of a card!

How fun is that card?!?!!?
One of my favorite things about this card is that little zig zag piece under my sentiment. I used an OLO Marker to color a piece of card stock to exactly match the patterned paper and then used my pinking shears to cut it in half, so I can easily finish making my second card.
Back Story About This Card…
I was having a conversation with a friend, we were both feeling like the most un-super moms that ever were. And I think that a roller coaster we all ride. So I made her this card to let her know that while her kid may not think she is super, I think she is doing her best – to me that is super!
If you've ever looked at this sentiment set and wondered what other ways you can use it, keep this is one in mind for sure!
