Faux Watercolor Splash Background Technique
I am so excited to share with you a Faux Watercolor Splash Background Technique using the 2018 Sale-a-Bration set Lots of Lavender. Watercolor splash is still a big trend in the paper crafting world, but many stampers are not comfortable with creating a wash background and feel much more comfortable with a stamp in their hand.
Supply List
To achieve this looks, we are going a little out of the box, using what is meant to be the background to a floral two step stamp. Check out the stamp image in the lower right:
Choose Your Color Palette
You can choose whichever ink color you want. For me, I started with my pretty Berry Burst ribbon. It has a stunning metallic edge to it and I couldn't wait to use it 🙂
I would go with a brighter color for this project. The more subtle or dark ones just don't have the pop.
Choose your neutrals by starting with deciding between white or vanilla. Then choose your accent neutral.
Here is my color palette for this card:
The Technique
Start with a square of Whisper White card stock and mark the center point. (It doesn't have to be exact, just close enough.) You will stamp your image 8 times in a circular manner. Start by stamping it at 12 o'clock, then 6, 3 and then 9. Then stamp again in between each of those zones.
The Sentiment
Check out the wonderful mix of fonts on this stamp. This is from the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set. However, I firmly believed this stamp set was incorrectly named 🙂 It is much more of all all kinds of celebrations sentiment. You can use it for retirement, graduation – really anything,
Simply stamp your image in Berry Burst ink and die cut it out. Then you just need to layer it onto a Basic Black circle that is just one size up.
The Finishing Touches
The Scattered Sequins embossing folder has been a very overlooked item in the Occasions catalog. It's hidden on page 13. It has rapidly become my favorite. This embossing folder was used on the Basic Black layer.
All that was needed after that was a pretty bow tied in that metallic edge Berry Burst ribbon. If you struggle at all with tying bows, be sure you get a 10 Second Bow Maker!
And then this card is done! Below is the list of supplies and the measurements.
