Colorful Summer Birthday Card with Layered Stencils | Catherine Pooler

The brand new Better with Sprinkles collection from Catherine Pooler Designs is officially here… and this release is full of bright color, playful patterns, and happy summer vibes 🍦✨

This collection feels fun from the second you start creating with it. Between the fresh colors, layered stencils, and cheerful stamps, there are so many ways to mix and match everything together.

And of course… I immediately had to play with the new blue ink color, Boardwalk 💙

🍨 Let’s Start with This Card…

For this card, I used the new Another Trip Around the Sun-dae Stamps & Dies along with the Check This Layered Stencils to create a soft and colorful background.

The stencil set is a 3-part layered stencil, but using the Sizzix Stencil & Stamp Tool makes lining everything up so much easier. Once the layers came together, the pattern almost looked like colorful picnic blankets to me… which felt perfect with the ice cream image 😄

I paired:

Boardwalk for the blue
Gateway for the pink
Garden Party for the green

And honestly? I love how fresh and happy these colors feel together.

The little sundae image and sentiment keep the card playful without needing a lot of extra embellishments or layers.

💡 How I Made It

Used the Check This Layered Stencils to build the colorful background
Blended Boardwalk, Gateway, and Garden Party inks
Die cut the background using the Dots & Scallops Die Set
Stamped and die cut the sundae image from the Another Trip Around the Sun-dae Stamps & Dies
Die cut a smaller rectangle from the same Dots & Scallops Die Set
Added the sentiment banner across the top
Layered everything onto a clean white card base

This is one of those cards that looks detailed because of the layered stencil work, but actually comes together pretty quickly once your colors are picked out.

And that new Boardwalk ink? Definitely stealing the show 👀💙
