If you are a fan of Stampin' Up! Christmas cards, you will LOVE this project!
There are lots of ideas out there for Stampin' Up! Christmas cards and while they are all gorgeous, sometimes we think that more layers, more accessories, more stuff – makes for better cards. But sometimes less is more, right?
And with this card, less is definitely more!
We are starting with an adorable Christmas tree, adding a sentiment, a sweet bow, a little speckle, plus a hint of patterned paper – and it all comes together to make a delightful card!
Let me share the card with you..
The Project
Here is our sweet and simple Stampin' Up! Christmas card:
I love how that sentiment POPS!
Recently, in Stamping Family, I was talking with them about embossing powders. Over time, the powder does age and the color can shift. I can't tell you why, but it does. I have seen this happen with every brand of powder that I have tried. So if your white powder isn't as bright as it once was, it's time to replace it.
Then when you use your new one, it will massively pop again. Over time you don't realize it's not as bright as it once was. Several members got new powder and were amazed at the difference.
But back to the sentiment, I love the simplicity of it, and I love that font – just perfect! You can stamp and emboss a whole stack of these in no time at all.
Then you can color your tree however you want. Today I used Stampin' Blends in Granny Apple Green, Balmy Blue, Real Red, Mango Melody, and Crumb Cake for the stand. A little fussy cutting, and the tree is complete.
I added a bow tied with Linen Thread and my 10 Second Bow Maker to add more texture to the card.
Then I snuck in, right behind the layers, some ink splatter just to help break up a lot of the white space. You can see how I do this with no extra tools in this post here. I used my Real Red and Granny Apple Green markers for this look.
Next, I dug into my patterned paper scrap bag and found this 1″ x 3″ piece of Real Red patterned paper – tore it in half and I have a layer to tuck in behind my sentiment. Make this card with and without that little strip of patterned paper and see for yourself what a difference that makes! When you see what a striking little pop it adds, grab all those patterned paper scraps you just couldn't bear to throw away and use them ALL up!
And just like that, your card is done.
