2014 Retiring Stamps and Accessories from Stampin' Up!

Today Stampin' Up announced their list of retiring stamps and accessories – which is a big to do in the stamping world.  And I will be honest, there were some shockers on it!

One thing I thought for sure would stick around was the Ruffled Ribbon – I so love that ribbon.

Last night I started on the card for today, I had the supplies out that I wanted to use, and the majority of it is retiring.

One of my favorite stamp sets is Delightful Dozen.  It is a perfect set for a variety of holidays, including the upcoming Mother's Day.  It is a set that I will not be getting rid of.   And that opens up a conversation.  I am often asked why I get rid of any of my retiring stamp sets.  If I paid $ for them, why get rid of them?

The only ones that I get rid of are the ones I really don't like – and those are typically the ones that we get for free from Stampin' Up for a variety of reasons.  When you attend an event you get stamp sets, and I am often convinced that they look at my purchase history and give me something that is totally NOT ME!

So what do I keep – all my punches, all my dies, all my ribbons, all my patterned paper – and most of my stamps!  (There are about 10 in my stash that I will gladly get rid of!)

Back to the card though, I knew I was going to make a mother's day card.  And I wanted to use my beloved ruffled ribbon.  And then can we please have a moment of silence for my Polka Dot Parade patterned paper?  (Yes, I already ordered extra packs of it!!!)

I went for simple.  Simple works for me these days, what about you?

Very few supplies, very few layers and only one accessory!

The sentiment is stamped in Strawberry Slush ink onto Whisper White card stock and the edges were punched with the Hexagon Die.  And that went onto a Daffodil Delight layer with the edges punched the same way.

I have never used Daffodil Delight with Strawberry Slush before, and I really like it!

A 2-1/2″ Whisper White circle was backed with the fabulous and retiring Strawberry Slush ruffled ribbon – all layered onto a Whisper White square to really make it pop from the card.

What doesn't show up well in the photos is the Whisper White strip under the Strawberry Slush strip that was punched with the retiring Scallop Trim Border Punch – it looks better in real life.

And then onto a piece of the Polka Dot Parade (another moment of silence please) and then onto a Whisper White card base.  DONE!!!
